Today, I sat down to take a practice exam. 5 hours later, I stopped. I couldn’t do it anymore; everytime I looked a the computer screen, my eyeballs secreted a protective glaze.
I’ve taken 2 full practice exams already, so perhaps 3 is overkill. Still, I felt discouraged by my inability to persevere.
Similarly I have a hard time concentrating on reading any more. I think I’ve hit that wall–where you have absorbed all you can possibly absorb, and anything more just bounces off like water on rubber.
I suppose I can do last minute summaries and mini outlines, but the space between today and next Wednesday looks like one big empty.
Next update: Thursday the 20th, the day after the exam.
Brightski, as someone who’s taken a master’s exam and knows exactly the state of burnout insanity you’re in, I prescribe the following:
1 day with no reading and no work.
Find yourself a collection of DVDs you want to watch, try out a ridiculously complicated recipe you’ve been dying to try out, take a long walk/bike ride, have “couple time” with the Philosophe. Give yourself 1 day where you will refuse to feel guilty for not working … it will totally recharge your batteries, I promise! And good luck — you’re so close to being done with this! Hooray!

Thanks Lindy. I think I will take your advice and call it a day on Thursday, and just go out and have ridiculous fun at the beach.
So close to being done–unless I don’t pass! EEK!
